Ørje medio August 2004          Farm in the Community of Marker

THE FORMATION
The five rings can be seen in the top left corner of the drawing. Notice that one of the rings was located about fifty metres away from the other four, but due to the fact that the overall size of the formation has been exaggerated on the drawing, it appears to be closer to the other rings than it actually was in the field.

LIGHT PHENOMENA
The family farm is situated at the bottom right corner. From her position at the farm court yard,
the reporter observed light phenomena above the house at the top right corner some days prior to her discovery of the rings.

NORTHERLY DIRECTION TO THE RIGHT
Please notice that the reporter has chosen to orient her drawing in such a way that the northerly direction is to the right.

REPORT

The five rings of downed crop were found in a field belonging to a farm close to Ørje in the community of Marker in the middle of August 2004. The Rings were discovered by Nina K. (the daughter of the farmer) when the field was harvested. Four of the rings were forming a quadruplet. The fifth was placed some distance away (approximately fifty metres) from the other four, in a north-western direction (see drawing above).

The largest of the rings (at the north-west corner of the quadruplet) measured two metres
in diameter, while the other four were slightly smaller. The rings were each approximately twenty centimetres wide, one of them perfectly circular, the others slightly
irregular.

No human traces were found on the ground, neither within the pattern, or leading to the formation in the surrounding field. The downed plants showed no sign of damage, the stalks lying “untouched” on the ground.

At night time, some days before the rings were discovered; the farmer and two of Nina’s nieces observed a light hovering above a house at the other end of the field. This house is located about 500 metres, in a north-easterly direction from the farm-yard were the observers stood. Nina reports that there have been several observations of strange light phenomena in the community lately, and that the local newspaper has announced some of these observations.

The farmer believes that the grain has been trampled flat by roes running in circles, but Nina does not find this a credible explanation as the lying crop showed no sign of damage and as there were no hoof prints nor any excrements to be found neither in the rings nor in the rest of the field.

The family has asked that their family name, as well the name of the farm, are not made available at this time.
