A visit from Mars or pranksters?
People who have watched too much of X-Files, might have a cause for alarm when they see the pattern that has appeared in the barley field of farmer Trond Arne Wisth. During Friday night a large crop circle appeared in the field. Wisth himself believes humans in need of attention made it.

The farm of Trond Arne Wisth lies at Haug, near Highway 757, and the strange pattern in the barley field strategically placed in the inclination, is clearly visible from the road.
The field hosts the pattern of a circle with a rose inscribed in it, not unlike the pattern you can create with a compass. The circle is about 50 metres in diameter. But Wisth does not believe in a visit from aliens.
- I think someone got wet feet tonight, laughs Wisth and shakes his head. The circle must have been made during the night because last night there was no pattern in the field. Wisth had planned to harvest yesterday, but had to postpone it as it started to rain. There were no visible tracks around the circle, but the perpetrators probably used the tramlines to avoid leaving visible traces.
Such a large area of trampled grain means that a part of the crop is lost. Wisth still smiles.
- That’s not what’s on my mind. But of course, in that respect, I hope it won’t happen again, he says.
Only a few days ago a similar circle appeared in a field at Rotwoll in Trondheim (District capital. Ed), which lead to a major article in Adresseavisen (Local newspaper. Ed.). Maybe the same pranksters have been here as well, or that some else has been inspired. If then, angels or aliens have paid a visit after all…….?
The phenomenon of crop circles is highly disputed. Many circles have appeared in England, and several of them have been revealed as hoaxes. Some still claim that the phenomenon is of supernatural character.
Someone probably hope to see a picture in the newspaper tomorrow, smiles Wisth. And since this will now come trough, the circle makers have probably achieved what they wanted. But what if they, as a token of their gratitude, helped Wisth with the harvest?
