UFO or summer prank?

RÆLINGEN: Have little, green men conquered Romerike (community to the north-east of Oslo) or is the pattern in the field simply the result of a summer prank?

- I’m inclined to think we’re talking about a prank here, but you never really know. There is more between heaven and earth than we can possibly imagine.

Roger Adner from Flateby in Enebakk (neighbouring community) discovered the circular pattern on his way through Rælingen (small place at Romerike) on his way to work on Wednesday morning. He admits that he really opened his eyes.

- I’ve seen similar things in newspapers and magazines, but they were much bigger circles. Something like this I’ve never seen before, he ascertains to Romerikets Blad.

Roger Adner is fascinated by the thought that UFOs might be hovering in the skies.

- But this time I’ll stick to the summer prank theory, he smiles.

Work of humans

And he’s probably right in doing that. UFO expert and the head of UFO-Norway’s Report Central, Odd Gunnar Røed, is quite certain that the rings in the field are made by humans.

- Even though I’ve seen many cases of such field graffiti, I still haven’t seen one that is proven not to be man-made, says Røed, who in reacent years has received an endless line of reports about UFO markings in the grain fields.

Røed has even been to England to take a closer look at the phenomenon. There, field graffiti is a widespread hobby.

- At the British Isles people are very good at making such markings. I would almost call them works of art. But it will take some time before the Norwegians will be just as good at this, ascertains the UFO expert.

Punishable crop prank

There is little, though, the likes of a work of art in the field at Aamodt.

- It’s more of a work of vandalism or graffiti. If the farmer can prove that he’s suffered economically because of the trampling, the perpetrators can be convicted, informs Røed, who is not trying to hide the fact that he’s had enough of the "grain tramplers".

- I’m really sick of all this rubbish now! The only thing that surprises me is that people buy info these pranks year after year.
