UFO-imprint or simply a prank?

LILLESAND: Has the peaceful community Østre Vallesverd (between the towns of Lillesand and Kristiansand, Ed.) been visited by uninvited guests from outer space? Or are the strange circles in the field simply a result of enterprising pranksters? Probably the latter, perhaps. But drivers on the E-18 who threw a glance at the field must have wondered.

Among them was Kjell Atle Johannesen from Springvannsheia in Lillesand (a small town north east of Kristiansand, Ed.) At three in the morning he was on his way to work at Dampbageriet (a bakery in the town of Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway, Ed.) when he threw a glance at the field to the right of the road, a couple of hundred metres before the E-18 crosses the small river of Vallesverd.

- I often take a look at the field when I pass by, because roes are often grazing there. This time I spotted some strange formations in the grass, however, he tells. Kjell Atle did not have time to stop at this early hour, but when he returned in the afternoon, he stopped to take a closer look. It turned out to be four circles in the grass. The largest has a diameter of eight metres, the three smaller ones about three metres each. In all the circles the grass is flattened anti-clockwise. Between the circles there are narrow corridors.

- As to what this might be, I have no idea. TV2 (Norwegian private TV channel, Ed.) has run some programs on UFOs lately, and maybe someone has been inspired. But this is a poor place for a good prank. It’s only a few metres from the main road, says Kjell Atle. If men from Mars made this or pranksters who forgot that the 1 st of April is the day for practical jokes, we cannot know. Maybe someone has rolled hay balls around in the field? But it wouldn’t have been easy to make the pattern. When Kjell Atle first entered the field there were no tracks leading to the formation.
