A higher intelligence creates the circles!
- The last years, several crop circles have appeared in Norwegian fields, and every year the patterns get more advanced. I will be exiting to see where in Norway the circles will appear this summer, says the Secondary School teacher Eva-Marie Brekkestø (44) from Bærum (the outskirts of Oslo) and healer Ottar Myhre (73) from Oslo.
UFOs behind the Phenomenon
The two are very fascinated by the many strange circles and patterns that have appeared in crop fields in Norway and in other places in the world. Together with 13 other persons they started the Norwegian Crop Circle Group two years ago. They want to study and document the mysterious circles that have appeared every summer the last years.
It is clear that a form of intelligence is behind the patterns, and I am open to the possibility that it might be UFOs. I feel that the circles might present a kind of message that humanity is meant to understand, says Eva-Marie.
Ottar and she are especially fascinated by an event that took place north of Hamar (a town in the central eastern part of Norway) in July 2000.
- The man who called us told that he had taken his daughter to the hospital because she had a bad stomach pain. From the car on the way to the hospital his daughter spotted a crop circle of about 30 metres in a field. Some minutes later, when they arrived at the hospital, the stomach pain was gone, tells Ottar.
- I cannot say with certainty that this had anything to do with the crop circle, but I have no doubt that strange things occur around this phenomenon. And the farmer who owns the field was shocked because the circle had not been there the evening before, says the healer.
5000 circles
No less than 5000 crop circles have been registered on a world basis. Most of them have been observed in England, and Ottar and Eva-Marie have travelled there to study them.
- The visit to England was fantastic and I was completely devoured by all the exiting patterns I got to see. Not the least by all the great hieroglyphic like patterns in the fields, tells Eva-Marie.
Ottar had a mysterious experience when he visited a stone circle in Cornwall.
- I was attacked by an aggressive hay fever caused by a strange energy within the stone circle, explains Ottar who works as a healer.
He is curious about the possibility to use crop circles in medical experiments.
- I am exited to see if the forces in crop circles can be used for healing, he says.
Created by energy
The Norwegian Crop Circle Group has different theories as to what forces are behind the formations in the fields.
- I have heard about crop circles that have appeared in four seconds after strange balls of light have hovered above the field. Because of this it is natural for many people to believe that UFOs are creating the crop circles, says Ottar.
- What do you think?
- I think the circles are made by energies in the earth together with a higher intelligence. In England a lot of research into the crop circles is carried out. Among other things, strange chemical substances have been found in the soil within the crop circles, he replies eagerly.
Both Eva-Marie and Ottar are convinced that people does not create the phenomenon. Even though persons often come forward to claim that they have made crop circles to fool people, both are certain that most of the circles have been created in another way.
- In England the largest crop circle to occur measured 300 metres and consisted of 196 circles. It is not possible to create such a formation in a few hours during nighttime, concludes the duo.
Inexplicable Crop Circles – do nightly pranksters make them? Or do UFOs that have landed in the fields and left their clear impressions cause these mysterious patterns? Or….? Since the Middle Ages people have been interested in this strange phenomenon. At that time many people believed the inexplicable phenomenon was caused by devils that were in the fields using their sickle. Modern meteorologists claim the phenomenon is due to small whirlwinds while people with a different perspective are certain that there is a more spiritual explanation. Several books have been written about the phenomenon, and the explanations span from cosmic influence and UFOs to hedgehogs that take circular walks in the fields. Now, even the filmmakers have contributed to the phenomenon. An American film with crop circles as the main theme will be released in August. Mel Gibson plays the main character and Night Shyamalan, who was behind the successful "Sixth Sense", is the director. |

A dance around mysterious circles
SINDRE HAUGLAND UTSTRAND
Even though Mel Gibson’s head might have spun in the film “Signs”, there are people in Norway who are not playing with circles in a field.
In the horror film “Signs” which is released in Oslo today, Mel Gibson has his harvest ruined by aliens with a preference for circles. A higher intelligence with sinister intentions tramples the acres.
- I’ve seen the film and thought it was horrible stuff. It’s incredible what people can cook up for money, says Eva-Marie Brekkestø.
There are people in Norway who won’t let anybody trample their circles. The Norwegian Crop Circle Group has its own web site ( www.kornsirkler.org ) where they register mysterious circles which occur in Norway. At the site you’ll find the 16 cases that have appeared in Norway since 1995. Two of these occurred at Hamar (a town in the central eastern part of Norway).
- I was at Hamar my self when these circles appeared. We were there to investigate a circle, when the second one suddenly appeared. We have reason to believe that there have been many more circles in Norway than the ones we have recorded, says Eva-Marie Brekkestø.
Mostly in England
In England up to 200 circles are registered every year, the first one at the 17 th century. There is a large interest in the phenomenon in England, and the fields are surveyed regularly. Brekkestø tells us that, at a world basis, there might appear twice as many. She believes that 90% of them are not man-made.
An American research group has investigated the phenomenon for a long time. In 90% of the circles indications of microwave effect is found on the plants and changes have taken place in the soil. It seems that the sites have been exposed to an enormous increase in temperature and pressure. One of the two circles we found at Hamar was almost certainly not man-made.
Who made the circles, on the other hand, she cannot say for sure.
- I think a higher intelligence is involved. They don’t mean to do us any harm, but might try to tell us something, says Brekkestø.
Critical
Knut Jørgen Røed Ødeggaard, the president of The Norwegian Astronomical Association and a scholarship holder at The Astrophysical Institute at the University in Oslo, is sceptical.
- We look at crop circles as a curiosity that we have not investigated scientifically in Norway. Most of them probably have a human factor to them. But some circles can be explained as natural phenomena. There do exist whirlwinds, small tornadoes, which can flatten the corn in circles.
